Overview

The FIRE Number ("we", "our", "the site") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information is collected when you use this site and how it is handled.

Short version: we collect no personally identifiable information. Calculator inputs are stored only in your browser's URL — not on any server.

Calculator data

When you adjust sliders on a calculator page, your inputs (expenses, savings, return rate, etc.) are encoded into the page URL as query parameters. This is done entirely in your browser using JavaScript's history.replaceState API.

No calculator data is transmitted to or stored on our servers. Your inputs exist only in your browser. When you close or leave the page, the data is gone unless you saved or shared the URL.

Cookies and local storage

We use localStorage to remember your dark mode preference (light or dark theme) across visits. This data is stored only in your browser and is never transmitted to a server.

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any other persistent identifiers.

Third-party services

• Google Fonts: We load the Playfair Display and Inter typefaces from Google Fonts. This causes your browser to make a request to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. Google may log your IP address and user agent. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Hosting & CDN: The site is served over standard web infrastructure. Server access logs may include your IP address and browser information. These logs are not used for profiling.

Advertising (future)

We may in the future display contextual ads via Google AdSense. When enabled, AdSense may use cookies to serve relevant ads. This will be disclosed with a cookie consent notice at that time. Currently, no advertising is active.

Analytics (future)

We currently have no analytics tracking enabled. If analytics are added in future, this policy will be updated to describe what is collected and how it is used.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.
